Christian Johnson, owner of Minneapolis-based Spyhouse Coffee Roasters, announced Friday that he would offer the local chain’s five cafes for sale to its unionizing employees.
“Some Spyhouse employees have petitioned to unionize and requested the opportunity to participate in the business decisions of the company,” Johnson said in a statement. “Spyhouse heard these requests and has decided to offer Unite [Here Local] 17 and the employees, the opportunity to buy the five cafes and operate them as Union owned and run coffee cafes.
“We look forward to discussing this exciting opportunity with Unite 17.”
